Hawksbill hatchling, Fuwairit, July 2013
This is our second visit to Fuwairit beach to witness the run of day-old Hawksbill turtle hatchlings to the sea. Unlike the last visit, we managed to witness and even help a few of the hatchlings find their way home, the oceans of the world.
It was also the first day of Ramadan fasting. The crescent moon was in view for just a few minutes.
We are hoping that some of these turtles will survive and get back to these same banks in 30 years’ time.
It was a muggy evening with high humidity and sweltering heat. A dip in the Arabian sea was welcome relief, for the kids, at the end of the day.
